Before I found my way to the transformative doors of OraDMT, my professional path felt like a winding road leading nowhere. Armed with a degree in journalism and mass communication, I stepped into the media industry with hopeful anticipation after completing my internship at the esteemed Royal Media Services. Landing a job initially felt like the validation I sought, a tangible step towards building my career. However, this initial optimism soon dissolved into frustration as I endured three grueling months without receiving any compensation. This ultimately led to the loss of the job and a prolonged period of disheartening unemployment that stretched into what felt like an eternity. I vividly remember reaching a point where my spirit felt truly broken.
Venturing into other avenues, such as farming, proved to be an unfortunate setback – a story for another time, perhaps filled with its own set of lessons. Even the option of “mjengo” jobs, the Swahili term for construction work, offered no consistent stability or a sense of long-term growth. It was during this period of uncertainty that the unwavering support and encouragement from my incredible sister and mother became my lifeline. They urged me to explore new horizons, to identify potential paths forward, and they pledged their full support during this crucial transition.
It was during one of my many online searches for viable career options that a spark ignited. I had always harbored a genuine interest in digital marketing. The dynamic nature of the field, its ever-evolving landscape, and its undeniable impact on modern business had always intrigued me. However, this passion had remained just that – an interest, never translated into practical steps or formal training. I began to realize that a significant knowledge gap was holding me back, preventing me from tapping into this promising domain.
My online exploration yielded three potential training institutions, and among them was OraDMT. Intrigued by their offerings, I took the initiative to make phone calls and even paid a visit to their physical location. What immediately stood out about OraDMT were several key factors. Firstly, their course fees were significantly more affordable compared to the other options, making it a realistic possibility for my financial situation at the time. Secondly, their class timings were flexible and accommodated my existing commitments. Finally, they offered the invaluable option of paying the tuition fees in manageable monthly installments, further easing the financial burden. It truly felt like the universe was aligning things in my favor. With a renewed sense of hope, I enrolled and eagerly began my digital marketing classes.

I found myself actively participating in discussions, eager to absorb every piece of information. My enthusiasm and engagement didn’t go unnoticed by my fellow students. In fact, it led to unexpected opportunities as classmates, recognizing my dedication, started offering me freelance digital marketing jobs outside of our regular class hours. This hands-on experience, gained concurrently with my formal training, proved to be invaluable in solidifying my understanding and building a practical portfolio.
As the OraDMT course drew to a close, one of these connections forged within the classroom blossomed into a formal job offer at an exciting startup. I embraced this opportunity wholeheartedly, applying the knowledge and skills I had diligently acquired during my training. This experience further bolstered my confidence and provided real-world examples of my capabilities, which I then leveraged when applying for other positions.
A pivotal moment arrived when my efforts began to yield multiple job offers. Among these was an invitation for an interview at the Onfon Group of Companies, a well-established organization with a diverse portfolio of businesses. The interview process was rigorous, spanning two distinct stages. To my delight and relief, I successfully navigated both rounds and was offered a position.
Initially, I had envisioned myself working as a digital marketer within one of their specific companies, Onfon Media. However, my career trajectory took an unexpected and exhilarating turn. I was presented with a significant challenge: to build an entire marketing structure – a fully functional department – for the entire Onfon Group, which comprised more than five majorly active companies. This was a daunting task, requiring me to conceptualize, strategize, and implement a cohesive marketing framework across diverse business units. It demanded every ounce of knowledge and every skill I had gained, not just from OraDMT but also from my subsequent experiences. Through dedication, hard work, and a relentless commitment to learning, I successfully navigated this challenge.
Now, almost two years later, I stand proudly as the head of the marketing department at Onfon Group. I have the privilege of leading a talented team of eight direct reports within the department and overseeing the efforts of seven indirect marketers across the various companies. Our collective achievements include orchestrating and executing impactful partnership campaigns with industry giants such as Safaricom, Oppo, Tecno, Vivo, Infinix, and Xiaomi, to mention just a few. Furthermore, I have had the rewarding experience of conducting digital marketing training sessions for project managers and other team members within the organization, empowering them with valuable skills and receiving encouragingly positive feedback.
As I take a moment to reflect on my journey, I am filled with profound gratitude for the pivotal role OraDMT played in this significant transformation. They provided not just a training program, but a catalyst that propelled me from a place of uncertainty and unemployment to a position of leadership and impact. The curriculum was precisely what I needed at that crucial time, equipping me with practical, in-demand skills that are now the foundation of my professional life. The certification I received was not just a piece of paper; it was a validation of my acquired expertise and a stepping stone to new opportunities.
